Economic crises often originate from structural flaws in modern financial systems and speculative behavior. This paper uses an analytical method to assess the role of speculation in triggering crises and to evaluate the preventive potential of Imami jurisprudence. The main research question is: What factors contributed to the emergence of economic crises in the West, and can Imami jurisprudence prevent similar occurrences? The central hypothesis posits that speculative behavior plays a significant role in exacerbating economic crises, while Imami jurisprudence—through principles such as profit-and-loss sharing, prohibition of ribā, the principle of no harm (lā ḍarar), prohibition of gharar, and emphasis on transparency and justice—possesses preventive capacities. The findings indicate that by restricting non-productive activities and channeling capital toward productive enterprises, Imami jurisprudence can promote economic stability and serve as a proactive framework against financial crises.
